Duke of Edinburgh Award Provider

Licensed as an Award Unit The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.

Kapiti Equestrian & Vaulting Centre is a provider for all components of the Adventurous Journey programme.

You can Volunteer, Ride for your Physical Recreation and do your Adventurous Journey at our centre.

The Equestrian Adventurous Journey

Preparation and Training: Group Lessons 1.5hrs per week x 10 weeks. Approx 15/20 hours.

Riding as a group, you will be expected to allocate roles such as navigation, kit planning, team leading, and safety, to ensure your expedition runs smoothly. You will also learn how to listen and help one another, how to make a plan and how to solve problems

Participants – Minimum Riding Experience.

The minimum age for this expedition is 15 years and the maximum age is 24 years. To participate, you will need to be a competent rider who can walk, trot and canter and be experienced at hacking out in open countryside and on public roads. You should be fit and capable of riding for up to 6 hours a day. Each participant is required to complete our waiver detailing their riding experience. Before an expedition goes ahead, participants need to show us that they have the required level of horsemastership to be able to complete the expedition safely and successfully. This will either be assessed at the conclusion of the group lessons, or for a couple of days prior to the actual expedition.

Each party can take up to 6 people but there is a minimum requirement of 4 needed

Together means everything.

Enjoy our family club, it’s our passion
